There are places on the mountains where, at the beginning of summer, I wander among the bright green of meadows covering everything around me, the darker shade of pine trees and the light blue of a clear true sky.
I breath in good air, do some exercise and find back my spirit and body, as tranquil as a baby.
All you need are walking boots, a technical jacket with a hood – as the weather can always change in a second – a sweater or t-shirt, multi-pocket comfortable pants and perhaps two aluminum nordic walking poles.
Then, in order not to get too lost in myself and in the woods, I purchased a gps with maps for Northern Italy.
I am often on the Asiago plateau as it takes less than an hour to get there and in a very short time I find myself surrounded by peace and silence.
You may go for difficult treks or quiet hikes, meeting deer and ibex, groundhogs and squirrels, capercaillies and wrens, but above all you may encounter secret secluded places where you may find yourself.
The plateau offers rock labyrinths such as the Castelloni San Marco or trenches and galleries from the Great War, you may take a path with 4000 steps built by the Venetians in the 18th century or simply look for mushrooms… and at night recharge your batteries with healthy genuine food in plenty of small restaurants and lodges.
I recommend it to everyone because it is the perfect place alone, on a romantic getaway or with the whole family!
